From a young age, Matt dove deep into sports card valuation, turning to esteemed price guides like Beckett and Tuff Stuff. Eventually he extended to Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh!. With a vision to sustain and nurture the hobby he loved, Matt established the ‘Graded Card Investor’ YouTube channel and website. He aims to foster a healthy community and offer invaluable insights to those entering the world of sports cards and TCGs. His depth of understanding, from the card market’s 2020 pinnacle to its 1990s valleys, is consistently fortified by meticulous research.
Thank you for your Griffey articles, I didn’t realize how many cards he had at those prices. I have two Nolan Ryan cards I need graded and a mix of several 80’s-90’s Score cards I collected as a kid.
I mostly collect NHL cards for I have a Gretzky rookie I’m waiting to get back from PSA (I’m thinking a 7 at best).
My son and I are just starting out as he found my old cards in a shoebox. The only thing I knew in the 80’s was to have a Beckett price guide on hand every time I bought a pack haha. Now, 35 years later I’m really glad the internet has instant resources to grade, price, sell, and learn how to get into the hobby. Your YT video taught me how to send my first batch of cards to be graded by PSA, so thank you for that.
I’ll be sticking around to learn more.
What up GCI! I love your content. In this and many other articles I enjoy seeing the top 10 or top 15 recent sales of a particular player. I have found great interest in specific inserts to purchase from watching your videos. I learn alot of scarcity and the card hobby as a whole. I would stay up until 3 or 4am watching your videos back in 2020 as the pandemic was locking us down. You motivate me to continue in the hobby and connect with like minded investors. Thank you GCI, I will be a support for life! I will also take wonderful care and make my own video of the cards I put in the Card Capsule Pro if I win the price. You da man!
HI JR IS # 1
After years of sending cards to Beckett and a hundred plus cards later. I have only successfully got a “10” once from BGS, but this fall I’m going to try PSA for the first time and one of those submissions will be the classic 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey JR. card! Wish me luck.
Really great list. I remember some of these inserts but it’s fun to see some new ones. Oddly enough, I picked up a 1997 Flair Showcase Hot Gloves Chipper Jones card last fall and just sent it off to SGC the day this list came out. It won’t be in the Griffey range price-wise, but I’m excited to see how that die-cut grades and looks in the black slab. Personally, I’d love to see a Chipper Jones list like this too!
The 1999 Fleer Brilliants – Gold 24K Serial Number: 19/24 is my favorite card listed here. Griffey’s follow through swing has always been one of the sweetest swings in history and this card depicts it. The card is not busy at all, it’s just Griffey in all his glory.
These articles show such amazing looking cards. The griffeys are beautiful, I love the articles and youtube videos of all these hard to find, unique, and beautiful cards.
I like when you do the 80s and 90s cards lists no matter who it is. I also like you doing the inserts but also enjoy when you do regular cards of those years. I enjoy seeing how high some cards are at 10 or at 9s. This Griffey one was real good wish I had been lucky enough to have found any of these in the 90s. I wanted the metal universe when they came out but where I lived I never could find any packs no shop around me had them back then. Now I cant find a card shop around me.
Had a crusade /25 when I was a kid, sold it for $200 at a card show. Thought I was rich 😂😂😭😭
